December Is As December Does

dec05.jpg As you might have spotted by reading the Gamasutra news story, the December issue of Game Developer has arrived, complete with awesome Derek Yu cover - we got some nice feedback on the postmortem, too, so that's great.

So, what's up next? Well, the January 2006 issue of Game Developer is just in the process of going to the printer, and the joint cover feature is a postmortem of Stubbs The Zombie: Rebel Without A Pulse by Wideload Games founder Alex Seropian, alongside the winners of the Game Developer Front Line Awards, honoring the best tools, hardware and books for game development - like last year's issue, there's a fun cover mash-up, too. Other neatness in the issue include some intriguing new technical articles, a mini-Tim Schafer interview, and Magna Carta turning up in our back-page art feature - fun. News on postmortems for the next 2 or 3 issues soon.

Since last update, something else cool happened, apart from the normal Gamasutra news/features goodness - we launched GameSetWatch, and, well, here's the intro blurb: "GameSetWatch is headed by Game Developer/Gamasutra EIC and former Slashdot Games editor Simon Carless. Contributors to the daily-updated game weblog, which aims to pinpoint and succinctly link to the gems of video game coverage online, include GeekOnStun weblog creator Michael McWhertor, Edge Magazine contributor Brandon Boyer, LostLevels founder Frank Cifaldi and Wonderland game weblog creator Alice Taylor, as well as Insert Credit co-founder and Game Developer editor Brandon Sheffield." Oh, and you can add to that list Tony Walsh of Clickable Culture 'fame', and we're all having fun trying to pinpoint original cool gaming links.
